I've been treating my GSP monthly with Frontline Plus, and the wife insists we give him heart worm meds as well. The vet gave us a sample of Heartgard. I'm sure it would be cheaper to get it online.

Any thoughts?

I was told by our vet that the Heartguard pills are no longer effective for many strains of heartworms anymore. We have begun squirting some mess on Leroy's neck once a month. I think there are (2) neck-squirt substances out there. One does ticks, but not heartworms....the other one covers heartworms, but not ticks.

I can't remember what the name of it is, but we give Leroy the heartworm, not tick stuff.

I believe it's 1/10 cc per 10 lbs. given orally. Just don't give to a collie or it will get rid of him and the worms

Drs. Foster & Smith.

Trifexis.

All you need.

Google it.

Just read about 20 reviews about it. Most of them said it almost killed their dog and some said it did kill their dog.

Interesting. My dog has been on it monthly for about 3 years. She's healthy as she can be. I've never read the reviews, just took my vet's advice.

Yeah, I just googled it. It works well for my dog. I guess it has different effects on others. Guess it's just like any drug for people or animals. Someone/thing could be less tolerant to it.
