There comes a time when you have to let them try things on their own. You all have watched me or at least read about my adventures with Chase and my attempts at teaching him how to shoot a bow. My son has been right there the entire time watching and listening.

This last weekend I bought a Martin Razor SE from BirdDog123 for him. I waxed the string real well and tried it out. The draw was short for me but the sights appeared to line up fairly well so I left it alone. I gave it to him when he came back from his mom's over the weekend.

Today I have to leave from school to go pick up my step-daughter in Lexington, KY. My wife calls me on my son's behalf and asks where his bow is and if he can shoot it. My gut reaction was no, but I stepped back, swallowed hard and said yes. Then we went over all the safety precautions and I cut him loose.

5 minutes later I received this in a text. His first shot. I've always experienced his firsts before...

Proud of my boy...Dissappointed that I wasn't there to celebrate but proud none the less.

Make him a Card. Do some research on Archery greats, go back as far as you can. Make a list of them and their accomplishments. Then put his name at the bottom and accomplishments a picture of that target. I could NEVER shoot that well.
