My oldest son (19 next month) is in the process of joining the Tn National Guard.... He took his ASVAB test today and scored real well on it. I'm having mixed feelings on him joining, but he is a grown man now and makes MOST decisions on his own (usually the right decision). Proud of MY boy! I did tell him that when Obummer sends him to my hous to confiscate my guns, just go back and tell him I wasn't at home :D

Congrats, be very proud of him. He's joining the small percentage of Americans that take a solemn oath.

A bit of advice, go with him to the recruiter when he picks his MOS if he isn't dead set on something or picked already. I have some very good friends that spent time as recruiters that my son calls "Uncle" and I still wouldn't have trusted him when contract time came .

When my son signed up for the WI guard, I shocked his recruiter when I showed up with him and laid down the law of what he wanted, and what MOS he was going to have in his contract. I think I also upset my son a bit by making a fuss and not letting him go combat arms, I did that crap so he didn't have to.
