Tomorrow he is supposed to sign the papers. I have to say I have mixed emotions. He's going in with a designated school, to be a Hospital Corpsman. He'll train in Great Lakes and then on to San Antonio. Ships out Sept. 3rd... :(

On the one hand I'm very, very proud of him. On the other, I am dead set against him serving a government that has become one of the most vile and corrupt on the planet.

He's following family tradition though. I served in the Corps so I know what he'll be doing. My MOS was 0311 infantry, so I know firsthand. His grandfather also served in the Navy and I had many relatives that served in Iraq, Vietnam, Korea(dad), WW2, WW1, Spanish American War, The War of Yankee Aggression, War of 1812, and the Revolution. I should've known it would happen... Say a prayer for him please. Name is Cameron.

A noble calling, for sure. My first full time ministry was in Norfolk, so I rubbed shoulders with a ton of squids. Those 6 month deployments were awfully rough on families. On the other hand, there are some terrific churches in that area who know your needs and struggles.

Prayers for him!

I understand your concern as well,my daughter is supposed to do her swearing in ceremony tomorrow for the Army national guard. I was in the corps myself and have tried to convey to her what she needs to expect and what will be expected of her,all we can do is pray for them and their safety as they start out on this journey in their life.

Prayers sent. And tell him "thank you" again, for what he is doing, and also thank you for your service as well, and the others on this site that served.

good luck to him, my daughter joined the Navy a year ago, she is in Washington at this moment but moving back to SD Ca. later.
I know the feeling you have, and know its ruff, back him and let him know how proud you are, I know when I went to boot camp graduation in Chicago I felt even more proud.
