As some know, im a archery finatic! I was a certified bowtech for dicks sporting goods a few years back. I love everything about archery. Just about every year i get a new bow. Its just my hobbie. I dont drink, smoke, or do any drugs. I choose to spend any extra money on the outdoors. Im 5'9" 145 lbs. my draw length is 27". I usually shoot 63 to 65 pounds on my bows. As many know, short draw length archers get shorted in speed. Ive spent years playing around with speeds and arrow weights, trying to find the best i could. Ive shot arrows from 323 gr to 405 gr. All of them have killed deer. All with rage heads. Ive only lost one (last year shoulder shot) of 27. Its hard for a short draw shoot to get good speeds and still shoot a heavier arrow to get maximum penetration. We usually sacrafice one or the other.
Well guys this year i have found probably the best arrow i could possibly shoot for my draw length and draw weight.
Im shooting a brand new 2013 hoyt spyder. I am not brand loyal as i shoot a different manufacture every year. Its 332 ibo, and is a 27" draw length.
I want do a review on this bow in the post. I will just say its one of the best ive shot.
So here is my set up:
Bow: hoyt spyder
Sight: tru glo rival fx
Rest: qad hdx
Stabilzer: trophy ridge
Quiver: apex
Arrow: easton injexion deep six (26")
Weight: 389.4 gr
Broadhead: rage hypodermic deep six
Nock: nockturnal nocks (blue)
Now to the important part! How does the arrow perform.
278 fps
66.77 pounds of ke
11.54% foc
.48 % momentum
For ones who doesnt have a short draw length, probably want realize how good this is for a hunting set up. I have been experimenting for a long time and first time ive really got both of best worlds. Yea i would love to shoot a 400 gr arrow at 280 fps, but it just want happen.
I give all the credit to the new injextion arrows! These things are worth it! I can shoot a heavier arrow for the same speed nc there so small. The bery strong, and accurate. O and it penetrated 6" deeper the my old arrow with same set up. Cant wait to put it to the "real" test. This will be my set up for 2014. Thanks for reading!
