HDuke it's a Christensen Arms Traverse 22-250 with a carbon wrapped barrel. Vortex PST GenII glass.

Correct Jcalder, can stay right on the target…I was simply amazed as there's virtually no recoil, the rifle comes straight back, and with zero muzzle jump.

Well I finally got everything put together and got a chance to sight in this afternoon and WOW on 2 fronts. 1-The last 6 shots were in the same hole, and 2- That booger is LOUD! After the first shot with no hearing protection I marched right back up to the house and got both the foam insertable and a pair of muffs…wore'em both.

You gents that said hearing protection is an absolute must with brakes were spot on.

It only takes once and you won't forget it.

Another Savage rifle I own is a 338 Win Mag. It shoots like a fluffy kittens cat with the break on, without it is tough to shoot more than 3 at a time without a sore shoulder. But it is loud and generous with hot muzzle blast for the folks sitting alongside me.

Update on my project.

Last 3 shots at 300...same ragged hole (can't tell from the entry but from the exits it's clear). Made a super tiny adjustment and reset my zero stop. One shot at 400. Next shot dinged the gong at 500.

Upvote for Christensen Arms.

Forgive me, but what exactly is considered a muzzle brake and what is the purpose? Is this considered a muzzle brake on my rifle?

That's a flash hider, common on just about all AR platformed rifles. A brake has holes, or in some instances slots, in it that deflect the muzzle blast thru them as it leaves the barrel, thus reducing recoil and muzzle rise in the process.
