I had a little range time with my .58 caliber flinter today just to check sights and functioning. The 1st and 3rd shot are in there but I pulled the second a little high which I called...all offhand and iron sights at 25 yds. It was very windy today so I'll try 50 yds another day. My hunting load is 3 drams 2fg Goex and a patched .570 round ball. The patch was lubed with bear grease.

.58 calibers are cool huh. I've got a old H&R Huntsman in .58 cal.

Yes they are. That big ol round ball speaks with a lot of authority. I'll be the first to admit that its not for long range work but where I'm hunting long range is 60 yards.

The muzzle end is pretty impressive. The one deer I did kill with it collapsed in its tracks. That was at 30 yards. I'm really looking forward to some more field testing with it. Come on November!
