Anyone see the horrible punt return officiating in the Memphis / mississippi state game?

That's as bad as I have seen in a long time.

I'm not convinced it cost state the game… they're bad.. but that officiating crew is known for being bad and it was about a clear as can be right there.

Is it possible to be that bad, or does stuff like that happen on purpose?

it was a bad call, but done by SEC refs. Reminds me of the time Tigers beat Peyton and the Vols. 1998? Anyway, Tigers returned a punt or kick off for a TD and refs missed a call.

I never meant to imply it was Memphis refs.. I know it was an SEC crew. It's not the first lousy call a Mark Curles crew has made.

But apparently they have to control it?? (Which I didn't realize) I think the whole fuss is that the ref come in, threw the bag and waved it off as if the play was dead
Yes they have to control it. The first guy definitely didn't but I thought the second guy slid beside it and touched it until it stopped. That's the way I remember it anyway. Regardless the ref throwing the bag and waving it off should've stopped it.
