this is real easy and very good

melt one stick of butter and pour into dish, I used a 9 x 13 pyrex
slice 2 lemons real thin and cover bottom of dish
add 2# of raw peeled devained shrimp
sprinkle a whole package of dry italian dressing onto shrimp, next time I will add some other seasonings
cook in oven at 375 for about 20 minutes

spread over a bed of rice

very tasty and extremely easy meal

Think I can substitute oranges? This is gonna be dinner Saturday night.

dang skippy. oranges or orange juice makes a dang good shrimp marinade. add a little thyme and rosemary and wow.

the supermarkets and walmart now sells 100% American gulf shrimp competetive in price with the chinese or thailand sewer shrimp.

We held off Saturday because Monday was my Daughter's 22nd birthday.

I got exactly one shrimp and gleanings from the kids plates.

My Daughter asked where did i get the recipe I said this guy up the road owns that big tree.

Daughter instantly recalled the pic of the Tree....said he can cook? I said yep seems like.

Many thanks. It was a hit.

I will cook more when the Wolves have moved to some other carcass.

I usually plan on 1# of shrimp per person, usually not enough left over for next meal

Did another Shrimp fried rice meal Saturday with the orange slices instead of lemons.

Wife sliced the oranges a bit thicker than me, I like the result.

Wife wanted to try Mango.

I have a question on cooking snow peas, does anyone have a favorite? And How do you tell a snow pea is tough/stringy? Besides taking a bite, I got that one.

The difference in taste between the shrimp sold in most grocery stores and fresh Gulf of Mexico wild caught shrimp is comparable to the difference between home grown/vine ripened tomatoes and the tomatoes sold in most grocery stores. My favorite are white shrimp, which are available late September through early November. We usually by 25 pounds or so for about $6.50/pound each year.

So very true.

You know the grocery store corner G-town and Cordova Road?

The have red snapper. it is not fresh. I think it is older than RUGER.

They have kingfish at 15 a pound but the flesh looks off.

I am not brave enough to try their shrimp which they claim to be gulf-caught.

I've been wanting to try this recipe. It sounds simple and delicious.

My only reservation is that the shrimp I have in my freezer is the "chinese or thailand sewer shrimp" that was referenced earlier in this thread. This one simple phrase has kept that bag of shrimp in my freezer since this thread started, LOL

here is the testing they did, the ready to eat shrimp were the nastiest:

like i said the super markets around here have been selling frozen USA inspected wild gulf shrimp. they look white until you cook them. BUT they dont have them all of the time, i guess they are seasonal.

Thanks for the link to the Consumer Report! I'll be looking for higher quality seafood from now on.

I imagine most restaurants and fast food chains serve imported/frozen shrimp as well, so I'll have to re-consider what I get while I'm out.

Did this again last night, this time some of the shrimp were doused in Mango juice.

Thinking the citric acid component was too weak and the sugar too strong. Flavor was not bad, just not as good as orange or lemon.
