Kitchen cabinets????

Anyone purchase any recently?
We went to lowes to get a quote. Outrageous prices for cabinets I think? Unless you want the terribly made house special.
We want a plywood made real wood cabinet of some kinda of quality
$15000?
9 base cabinets
4 uppers
Does this sound right? After we cut out some of the extras we got it down to $12000 and they have a promotion I can get 30% off
It just seem expensive. Idk to top it off there 12-15 weeks out

Any advise?

We went custom from a cabinet maker. The Lowe's cabinets we looked at were their higher end and would have cost us about 3 grand less than what it cost us for the customs. That was over 11 years ago though, and materials were much cheaper then than they are now. We had about $9500 in our cabinets, installed.

Not uncommon to spend 25k on cabinets anymore. We got 5 quotes on ours recently and ended up spending 19k for cabinets for the kitchen plus bathroom vanities for two bathrooms, that was last month. Those are plywood. I would be happy with 12k.

I am replacing the cabinets in our kitchen and going with a local cabinet shop. $18500 was the best quote then another $3000 for the counter tops. My first quote was for $25000 plus counter tops. I was shocked at the price. I looked at Lowes cabinets but would have had to design kitchen around what they had. Going with the custom cabinets they will build what I want and there will be a lot of custom work done. They are also 12 - 15 weeks out for install.

I will also add that I priced cabinets when lumber was cheaper also and the quotes were basically the same as what I paid last month.

Find some Amish folks and see if there is cabinetmaker in their community.

Ok so I’m guessing the prices isn’t bad. Mine is no island and no hardware others than hinges and drawer slides

Just finishing this kitchenette in a manager’s apartment I built inside an old office space. These are Lowe’s off the shelf, not far from elcheapo stuff. Had to repair 3 pieces during install. Can’t compare costs, bought these a year ago. The counter top was 8 to 10 weeks out and 3X what it would have cost a year ago. I am fortunate enough to have the warehouse space to buy for a project as I plan and that gives me time to look for bargains. So when I actually start a build I have 90% of the materials on hand to finish.

We did ours 2 years ago and went through a local person who does it for a living. We had an odd shaped kitchen and now have storage we didn't have before along with a small island.
good quality cabinets and the fit was worth the extra money versus ones we looked at in the chain stores.
