keiffer pears

Ive been reading that keiffer pears are the leading pear planted by deer hunters. I found some for sale.Does anyone have any experience with them? Anyone know a really great place to order them from? Thanks apparently they ripen oct and nov and are self pollenating.

I don't have any experience with them but they sound interesting. I hope to add some fruit trees on our place in the future.

I have planted keiffer and bartlett. I bought bare root trees online from tyty nursery in Georgia. Both are heavy producers.

They are good and supposed to be more resistant to blight that Bartletts get in some areas.

I've got quite a few. They do very well in my area. Just like everything else, can't keep the bears from destroying them way before they ever get ripe.

You will definitely want to cage your trees. Deer will rub them if left uncaged, and the trees will die.

Coyotes really like the pears as well. I killed two last year right after they picked up pears.
