Went down the new outdoor store in town just a bit ago. had some 50rd 22's and 1 100 rd sleeve in stock. $32 for the 50 ct and $42 for the 100 ct. Not bashing the store because i know ammo is high and scarce.

Just couldnt make myself pay that much for 22 shells

Oh well. Ill get some sooner or later.

Nope, not gonna do it.
I would be interested to know what they paid for it.

Disappoints me that they are charging that much.

Making a $1 my be-hind! Good for you not paying that much. I turned down 500 rounds for $80 the other day because that was too high. You shouldn't have to pay more than .06-.08 cents for a 22 shell. It will come back down one day.

I would ask to see the invoice for that. I am not sure where he is getting it from but it would make me ? him if he claimed that.

I still don't understand all the hording.

...but I have been watching prices for a couple of weeks now just out of curiosity.

You can get .22LR for 7-15 cents per round a few times per day, but you have to be fast. Anything below about 15 cents/round sells out very quickly. You can buy all you want if you are willing to pay 25+ per round.

Same with 7.62x39...40cent rounds are readily available. Below 30cents sells out fast, but its out there.

I have also noticed the prices seem to be lower early in the work week and peak over the weekend.

I have a FFL and just called one of my wholesalers about 22 ammo. He said the only price increases they are seeing from the manufacturers are maybe a bit higher than the normal yearly increase. According to him, Federal is now running 3 shifts and has installed more machinery to increse output as much as possible (3 million rounds/day) and they (Federal) are predicting a 15% price increase. That means that a $2 per 50 round box should now cost $2.30 certainly not $35!

Oh, they didn't have ANY 22LR in stock at all either. :)

Oh yeah, he said that Federal is saying their next anticipated problem is a shortage of raw materials. That obviously can't be fixed by more people or machines. I have no idea how that part of the supply chain works or how motivated those people will be to increase production. One thing you have to look at from their perspective is that they have to consider that this huge demand is almost certain to be short lived and may not justify a big outlay of cash for equipment to increase production capacity that can't be used when demand falls off.
