Lol!!!
Thats how I was raised.
I was put to work at 14 by local farmer
At age 16 as a sacker
And when I graduated high school, I was kinda thinking I would take my summer break before getting a real job.
My mom had other plans, she had an interview set up the following monday.
Dang the luck!

Good for her! Great to see kids that are willing to work.
she wasnt so much willing i kinda made her lol

Sometimes you gotta put the foot down, tell them you cant afford their luxury anymore so they gotta help
I made all mine do it and they seem to be doing fine now.
But I think it was the fact that I wouldnt buy them a car, only help them buy their own car, so that got them to work and saving some money. My oldest went to baby sitting ( okay long time ago) but she saved enough during to summer to buy her a little VW beetle and got to drive it to school after a week or so of training, all was good for couple of weeks, then POOF, ran out in front of someone and damaged the front, but all was well, fixed it and she was off again like nothing happened.
Thus far, I have not bought any car for the kids, thank goodness, but I did pay their insurance
