I bought it Sept of 2019.
Not only will it not get above 400 degrees to do steaks fast it has these wild temp swings.

I came out to check on it and it was at 190 degrees ( dial at 250). Then in a matter of minutes went to 260 , and now at 243. I'm doing a butt.

Internal 128 so far.

I keep the pot blown out and occasionally clean the thermostat. Only other thing is I don't always empty the pellets and assume they can suck up some humidity.

Thanks for any ideas

Is it cold and windy there, can influence temp swings with some. If not, might contact them and see if they can give you some insight.

My masterbilt smoker stays pretty consistent unless you open the door.

I haven't run into any problems yet, though I just got mine last year. I'm actually smoking a pork butt right now as I type. I'd give them a call. If I recall, they have a 5 year warranty on them, so you are in that window. Can't remember if that was with Traeger or Ace Hardware where I got it from. I believe it is Traeger. Keep us up to date on what they say

I'm just yanking your chain. I have no experience with them at all. For the money you spend on them, I would expect their customer service to be pretty good. Maybe the dealer you bought from could help?

My pitboss has been working great for 5-6 years, not the same as a live charcoal fire but a big step up from a pressure cooker, thats a different cooking method that should never be confused with bbq lol

I was a hardcore Traeger user for years. I had to put the insulation blanket it on it and seal the door because of colder/windy conditions. It helped a lot.

I'm now a Recteq guy. 😊

That's why I bought my green egg. I can run it at 200 degrees for 14 hours with no temp deviation. Stays steady nomatter wind or weather.
My BGE is the first thing going to SC when we move! I bought the Traeger for the beach house to keep someone from burning or blowing up my house there.

This is good info. I'm just now starting to think about what to add next to the stable. As much as I hate to say it, "convenience" is going to be a high priority. Just can't commit the time needed for some smokers/cookers.
Traeger was definitely on the list to consider.
