I grew up trout fishing the clinch river. I've been away from her for over 10 years but would like to flail her waters with a fly line here before too long.

Is it still pretty good fishing? Are scuds still the go-to?

Thanks yaw!

The river has only gotten better since you fished it last. A slot limit was put in and it has improved the quality of the fish being caught. There are some REALLY BIG bows and browns in there now. There even may be a left over brook trout from about 4 years ago when we had a drought and they had no where to dump the fish except tailwaters.

Sowbugs/scuds are coming back as there was a kill off many years ago. There was chlorine found in the water to Miller's Island which obviously played havoc on vegetation and bugs. Sulphurs are present and are starting to hatch.... as we saw some yesterday around Riverbend while floating.

Maybe I can help get you out there this spring ..... o
