Another job thread :D When you first started working what was your pay?
I don't remember what I made at my first job working on a farm during the summer but I know it wasn't enough LOL
But I remember making 4.25 an hour working a crappy 2nd shift job while I was in college. First job doing electrical work in 1994 was 6.50 as a helper.

My first real non family farm job-- 3.00hr working for nursery/landscaping local business.. and the owner bought our lunch-- he said you wont be worth a hoot after all you eat for lunch.. I said Bill I gotta make it till 5pm or I get the sugar weakness...he'd laugh and pay my tab..I was 15-16yrs old at the time.

$20 a day working on farm. It didn't matter if we worked 3 hours or 16 hrs that day, pay was same. Usually it was daylight till dark. And lunch was provided, usually bologna or potted meat

First job when I was 15 paid $4.15/hour working at a nursery... Potting plants, moving them, and pulling weeds. Woohoo!

Worked there 3 summers and I believe minimum wage went up to $4.25.

First job was $1 an hour. It was at a slaughter house. Hauling salted hides out of a vat of stinky slimy water full of maggots onto a flat bed truck.

5.25 at a local meat market, unlimited peaches and strawberries as long as I picked or 100$ a full wknd of salting hams... not sure which adds up to the least... nonetheless I was in hog heaven every second at each of these jobs.

$5.00 an hour while in high school detailing and washing cars at West Chevrolet in 95.

Some perspective from my papaw on his first real job, made $.01 a bag of popcorn he sold at the theatre when he was 12. A bag sold for $.05. He is 94 now so this was back in 1936.

I helped a farmer with hay for $5 an hour when I was younger.
My first “real” job was $7.50 an hour working for a plumber in 2000.
