I looked,my Mossberg 935 weigh's in at 7.5 lbs.Would not won't to shoot any light gun in a 12 gauge 3.5 magnum because of the heavy recoil. My 935 does not kick as much as the Mossberg 835 I used to have!I'm in pretty good condition to be 68 years old so the weight of my gun does not affect me one way or another!

Here's our Tristar Raptor 20. I know it's gained a few ounces as I've since swapped the stock out for a pistol grip version.

What's more, that little 20 ga with TSS extends your range beyond what you had with the 10 ga using lead pellets!
I guess theoretically, yes... but in actuality, not so much. My 10g with 2.25oz #5 lead (for the first 2 decades) gave me an effective range of 40y. The last few years I went to #7 hevishot... and that was a gamechanger.

No difference in pattern or performance of the 10g 3.5in #7 hevis vs the 20g 3in #9 tss... but sure is easier to tote all day and hold on point when a bird is working! Still limit my shots to 40y, and all my kills this year were under 30 except for my son's, who's ended up being 43.

Now way back in the day I hunted with a 3in 12g #5 lead. Effective range with that set up was 30 to 35y. And I lost more than a handful at 35 unfortunately.

I use a 935 and the weigh has never been an issue for me. I carried a Franchi Al 20 when I upland hunted and really liked the light weight. I think having a good sling makes a huge difference.

My total setup.....shotgun, mount and red dot comes in just under 6.5 pounds. 22 inch barreled, Mossberg Maverick 20 gauge with pistol grip and adjustable buttstock. Can carry that thing around all day and it doesn't feel like an anchor at the end of the day.
