Some of you know I have a thing for glass bottle soda, especially Sundrop. Well I hit the jackpot today at the Food Saver in Franklin, never seen it this cheap anywhere! And not just 2 or 3 different kinds, they had sundrop, RC, A&W, sunkist, nehi peach, welch's sparkling grape.... Grabbed a few, 85 cents is cheap for a glass bottle, and it's worth paying more than the cans, they taste better.

If you ever get to Knoxville, go to Mast General Store. They have all the hard to find bottled drinks in an old style slide top cooler with the bottle opener mounted on the outside. It's fun to sit and watch kids trying to figure out how to open that pesky bottle!

I agree, it does taste better Ina glass bottle, and the peanuts come out easier too!

Absolutely, Catman. I wouldn't take a Coke in a can if you paid me. Now put a glass bottle Coke in the freezer for about 20 minutes and WOW, it don't get any better than that.

Speaking of glass bottle Cokes, I was looking at some old bottles I have yesterday and they only held 10 ounces vs. the 12 ounces in cans. I would have sworn they were exactly the same size.

older bottles from the 50s only held 6 or 6.5 ounces. Gradually increased size over time...

Man I still remember scratching the tops out of the Big Red and RC caps to find .05 and .10 cent rewards underneath (EARLY 70's).. The old store owner would save em up till we were there on our bicycles in the summer and come dump em all out under the front overhand o the building. He knew we'd cash in every cent and spend it in the store as we always did. I believe he enjoyed it ALMOST as much as we did :D

Good memories - thanks CatMan!
