High RPM

Got a 2022 mercury 115 even when breaking it in the rpm’s would go to 6400-6500 talked to the dealer he said might be bad tach so put another on it still registers 64-6500 dealer said it has safety system built in it that will cut it down if needed. I never run any boat over 3/4 throttle so not really a big concern but just wondering if there’s anything I should do now. Got 5 yr warranty thanks

looks like 14 x 19 hard to tell upside down.may have to get some cup put in prop

going up one pitch would probably knock it back to 6300 max wot. itd be nice to find a shop that had one to try out.

As mentioned you need a prop with more pitch or you can also go up in size.

How's your hole shot? Is it slow to get on plane?

20 ft sea ark deck boat. Talked to a mechanic he said tach just needs adjustingsupposedly there a screw on back you adjust. He said my motor will start shutting down at 6100. It now runs great at 6600. So should be easy fix

I installed a NMEA 2000 network so my graph would display the true RPM reading from the computer. I had doubts that my tach was accurate.

per mercury you can run it to 6300 for more performance on the pro xs model.

I'd recommend you hook it up to the computer first and make sure it isn't truly getting into the range your tach says.

No. It’s on plane almost immediately
