Help with scope base

You should stick with the flathead screws.

That way when your screwdriver slips and leaves a really nasty scratch in your rifle you'll remember never to even thread them into your rifle.

I personally hate torx screws but they work the best, by far, of any tightening system for this kind of work.

I'll bet the screw heads are a lot thinner on those flat screws than any Torx head screws of the same diameter would be. I'd expect Torx screw heads to be too thick to fit down into the counterbore and clear the rings. Now I will agree that IF they would fit, Torx screws would be much preferable! :)

I called Weaver today and spoke with a really nice lady who said I likely got the wrong screws. However, I was transferred to a product technician and had to leave a message. I'm waiting for a call back.

I knew about the newer Mossberg lever action that looks like the Winchester 94 but had forgotten these MArlin look-a-likes existed. Apparently they don't share any common parts at all but do look like the Marlin. The same seems to be the case for the current Mossbergs also.
