Working 1,200 - 1,500 decoys for 60 days is rough. You add 6-8 days of ice and a couple backwaters raising the water by 8 foot and man oh man..... maybe they did us a favor!

i would have never dreamed that many decoys around one blind. I'd like to see drone footage of a spread like that. Thanks for clarifying.
Look at "Higdon Outdoors TV -305 Towhead Part 1" on YouTube. Granted they are a private club but if you want to see what 250 dozen looks like they have some good drone footage.

Needless to say you can get them pretty tight and not be able to kill ducks to the edge of them.

Yeah those guys don't hold back on the decoys. When you set them the right way you can make the ducks finish close.

JMO but I don't think the state ought to be in the blind business at all (spend the money on food) Just designate zones and allow hunters to use their ingenuity (within the law) to have a successful hunt within the zone they've drawn. Also don't think their should be any full season draws, 7 days max.

It's bad to say but the big money people control what goes on because it will benefit them and there buddies. I agree hats off to Angie she must be the only sensible commissioner. I wonder how long they think these 30k blinds will last made out of tubing exposed to the elements. If someone knew how to check someone has a friend or family member in the blind business

I guess Duck hunting is over in Tennessee now that changes are being made some don't agree with. 1st NO one will ever kill another duck now because you can't put out a thousand decoys. That really doesn't matter though because you'd probably get lost or drown trying to find the blind in the first place. Then even if you don't drown or get lost or can't get enough decoys out Ducks won't come because TWRA didn't make it rain enough to put water where you need it or caused it to rain too much so they'd have good cause to not plant the required amount to attract those thousands of ducks that would have come if they just hadn't changed things. Yep it's over.

Decoys are like words in a sentence, you can never have too many.... 🙄

Just bought my first dozen - flocked head, foam filled etc. on sale a little under $100. So I guess after I spend another $10k I will will have a good start. Then of course I will need a moving van to get them to my blind.

I thought if you were on the X it didn't matter how many decoys you had in your spread?
There are almost no draw blinds "on the x" you are running traffic trying to pull in passing ducks going to different places. The more decoys gets there attention. You try to hunt most of these blinds with 3-4 doz decoys you might as well bring some popcorn and binoculars to bird watch.

That's been my position in most of this. It's silly for me to try to get a year long blind. I can't afford to travel up to the western end of the state 5-6 times. One or two short hunts would be fine and not having to be concerned with people jumping it is another plus.
Now if nobody will damage my truck or boat trailer while I'm hunting that would be great.

Late season, we have to remove decoys from the spread so we can keep killing ducks.

What people fail to realize is that most of the ducks killed at the "good public blinds" have never and will never actually use that spot/field the entire year. Killing ducks where they don't necessarily want to be takes a huge amount of effort. Killing ducks where they want to be is about the easiest thing to accomplish in all of hunting.

Im not in a natural resting or feeding area. Ducks generally like to land in tiny pockets in the buttonbush/cypress swamp i hunt. I like most hunters am in a larger hole. In my experience most giant decoy spreads with 14 spinning wings and 4 guys hyperventilating into a single reed arent working late season ducks to the water, they're mostly just getting them to swing over 45 yards high. I think the reason people hunt this way in congested areas is because you need to compete with everyone around you who are doing the same thing. If everyone could spread out a little bit id be willing to be decoy spreads would look more like ours, lots of motion, not many spinning wings (tucking the ones you do use under tree limbs), and a small number maybe 6 or 7 dozen high quality realistic decoys.

Nothing is more fun than fooling a group of late season ducks into landing in your decoys.
