I see... if hunting isn't done your way, it's wrong. I get it. Well, you and your type are exactly what's endangering hunting today. If you want to loin-cloth and club hunt, have at it. Stop passing judgement on the rest of the hunting community.

Period.

... and another thing. How dare you come into a forum about hunting gear and hijack it for the sole purpose of denigrating those who choose to use legal equipment that YOU don't happen to choose to use.

Keep it up and I will do all that is possible to have similar activity ceased. This is not the purpose of this forum. Take it elsewhere. The original thread was ABOUT hand held GPS's. If you don't like that, do not bother reading.

It's not my way, it's OUR way...I am one of many...And thank
you so much for giving US your blessing to hunt with club and
loin cloth, and for passing judgement? (It's our type that
endanger hunting?) Not only is THAT judgemental, Mike, it is
without motive...Fact is, I don't know anyone more concerned
about the future of hunting, than me...Alot of young people
are strapped for cash these days, hunting is quickly becoming
an expensive pastime, as is...peer pressure to have expensive
electronics in the field IS NOT HELPFUL...I'm well aware there
will be no PERIOD to the end of this issue..Again, as before,
I'm sorry for ruffling your feathers....................BH51

bowhunter,

I will type this slowly in hopes you get it this time:

1) This is a "Gear" portion of the forum.
2) This thread is about GPS's.
3) You have attempted to hijack this thread by telling people what they shouldn't use in hunting.
4) This isn't about "peer pressure." What are you? 18? Give me a break.
5) Who and where I give money is my business, not yours. If you feel strongly about donating your money to kids who can't hunt, feel free. Take the pitch somewhere else. Not in 'Gear' and certainly not in a thread about "HAND HELD GPS'S."

This is a deer hunting gear DISCUSSION forum, Mike....
It's not a hijacking...I don't care what you do with your
money....and, I'm sure there is a few 18 year olds out
there don't take kindly to your statement...I have EVERY
right to be here as you...We are not off topic...perhaps
you should talk to an anger management counselor..Besides,
I thought you said "Period" back about 5 posts ago...
There are those, including myself, that see electronic
devices, cellphones, callers, GPS, night vision and color
TV's, etc... should be prohibited from hunting...We see
problems down the road...with stuff like that....BH51

Yeah...I personally don't think you ought:

1. Drive a motorized vehicle to the place area you are going to hunt

2. Pay for hunting equipment with debit cards...or even cash for that matter...to modern, you ought to barter with beads and shells

3. I don't think you should listen to the radio for a week before you go hunting.

4. You should never listen to the weather on radio or tv before hunting...definitely gives you an unfair advantage over the deer

5. I don't believe in carrying a watch...only a sundial - gives you an unfair advantage for patterning deer, feeding times and so forth.

6. I don't believe you should take a shower with hot water from a modern day hot water heater before going hunting...definitely not fair. Must boil water over a fire (of course, wood not to be cut with modern day chainsaw...must be cut with ax)

7. Certainly do not wash with anything but homemade lye soap before hunting, do not eat any canned or processed food - only homegrown with no modern fertilizers or pesticides - unfair to have strength to hunt from modern agriculture methods.

It is no wonder hunting is no fun anymore - with all the modern advantages we have...there is just no challenge to it at all!!!

Well now hold on mike243, that last crack didn't come from me...
I'm sure pastorbmp, was just kidd'n...(I hope), I've tried the
sundial thing, it don't work too good on cloudy days anyhow...
Fact is, I got electronic stuff..I just don't use it...Didn't
mean ta tick Mike Lipsey off like that, just meant to create
some discussion, justification...from what I gather...Most guys
just use them a couple of times..say they find them cumbersome
in the field..Once they learn the lay of the land, their thru..
I was hoping to use the same people to go a step further on
other electronic devices...That's all...................BH51

bohunter 51, a discussion of the validity of electronics in the field is welcome but is more appropriate in its own thread. This thread is clearly directed toward people who use a GPS.

I have a etrex legend CX. I'm a big fan. It takes a lot of the worry out of exploring new places. Just make sure to have spare batteries with you.

Bohunter 51. If you are worried about spending the money on the kids, why waste it on a license, bows, guns, ammo, and fuel to get you to the hunting areas. Seems kinda selfish to squander all of your money on" Play-pretties" for yourself when the kids need it so bad. You could buy meat a whole lot cheaper at the store than you can trying to kill the meat. Oh yea, I have an e-trex and topo maps and have even used them to find people that THINK they know where they were when they got lost.
