Gun selling question

I've seen guns for sale where the gun owner states you must be a TN resident to purchase. Is there a law stating that? The reason I ask is I've driven to KY and bought a gun at Whittaker Guns before and it wasn't an issue there. (I am a TN resident) just seemed odd that I can buy a gun out of state but if I sell one I can't turn around and sell the gun I bought out of KY to someone from KY? Thanks!

Private sale of guns across state lines is illegal unless a FFL is involved...

This is absolutely TRUE, even though you will have a bunch of people tell you otherwise.

You can buy guns across state lines but it must be done by an FFL. Private party sales with no FFL doing the transfer are illegal.

Thanks for the responses guys! That's what I figured, but thought I'd ask. Not quite sure why I need to delete a question unless the question police will come after me? lol
