Yes, I know it isn't football season but my son Nicholas had his Middle School Sports banquet last night and he won his teams Defensive MVP award so I thought I would brag on him a little. Way to go son! Love you and proud of you for all the things you do on and more importantly, off the field.

Hard to believe he will be in High School next year. Amazing how fast they grow.

Awesome man, tell him to enjoy it. It seems like yesterday I was winning awards in football and now here I am four years out of school working forty hours a week and doing grown up things.

During football season when this picture was taken he was 5'10" and right at 150 lbs. He played outside linebacker/defensive end. He also played fullback and second string tailback. As an eigth grader, he was definately one of the taller more nimble kids on the team. Funny thing is, when he was younger his nickname was "Myrtle the Turtle". Now he runs the 100m and anchors the 4 x 100 meter relay for his track team.

Congrats to him! He will do real good in High School ball. Make him work hard and study hard and he'll go places!
I'm just 5 years out of high school but still think about my high school team quite a bit. Always had a blast with it. Just wish I hadnt got hurt and got to take up some of my scholarship offers! lol

Having been involved with young men playing football through Pop Warner football for the last 8 yrs. My one advice to him starting high school is to do anything and everything the school has to offer. The football memories will be there but leave high school with no regrets. When he's with his buddies after high school reliving the good ole days it is too late to say I wished I would done this or that. You can't go back. I have been out of school for 30 yrs now and I still wish I would have tried out for the school play. I may not would have made the cast but at least I would have tried.
