Had a chance to hunt in Oklahoma for gun opener.

Got in the stand before daylight overlooking brush/hill country. About 6:40am, barely legal shooting light, I see this deer in the distance at around 250 yards working back to a thicket right to left. It was so low light, it was hard to be sure what I was seeing at that distance, but I was certain he was a shooter. His antlers looked like he was in velvet in the low light. I REALLY didn't want to shoot a small buck on this property, and have to listen to my brothers tease me for 3 days.

Ranged the next opening at 236 yards and when he stepped in it, I squeezed. Felt good about the shot and thought I saw him flinch, but I didn't even see which direction he went.

After 30 minutes of searching for blood without a single drop and feeling hopeless yet sure I hit him, I started walking Circles in the most likely area I thought he went. In the end he went about 75 yards and crumbled. Hit both shoulders and didn't exit, absolutely zero blood trail but devastation in the chest cavity.

Talk about a roller coaster of emotions.

No idea what he will score, but he weighed about 230lbs live.

Very thankful to have gotten this buck. Punched my OK tag in 13 minutes.
