Yes you can combine the soils as long as it is going to be the same crop. Make sure to just get dirt. Rocks or grass can though it off. A quart bag full will be plenty. Just get you a shovel and take one scoop every 100 square yards and put it in a bucket and mix it up and get your sample from there.

Combine samples from the same field since you will be applying the same formulation to the entire field. You will end up sending off a 2"x2"x2" box. Take a bunch of little scoops from all over, pick out the rocks, and mix it up good. The Co-op and UT Extension use different soil test methods. The test used by the Co-op generally calls for more fertilizer than UT will.

Have you planted this field before? Can you get equipment in there? I would suspect you're going to need lime. If so, I'd go ahead and get my sample done and have it limed now.
