How many if any times does your Glock jam?

I shot 3 mags full out of mine last weekend and had two jams.
seems kind of high if I plan to use this for a carry gun.

Mine has never jammed. I don't shoot it a ton but I have shot 200 rounds in one sitting and no jams at all.

Re: Glock jam?Glock users?

Could be caused by many different things. First check your grip. Make sure you have a firm grip and your strong hand is high on the backstrap so it doesn't create a limp-wrist type of situation. This can greatly affect the slide action of the weapon in a negative way causing alot of common jams. Check the feed ramp that allows the bullet to travel from the magazine up and into the barrel. There should not be any burrs or craks in this area. If you find a problem such as a crack or a burr, take the gun to a certified Glock armorer for repairs. Check the condition of the extractor as well. Next make sure you are using quality ammunition. Check the magazine and make sure the spring in the magazine is functioning properly. Push down on the follower and make sure it returns to the top of the magazine and is operating freely. Also give the gun a complete and thorough cleaning. Can you give a better description of what type of jam(s) you are experiencing. Are the rounds ejecting properly, or are they doing what is commonly called "stove piping"? A weak grip can be a very common cause of certain types of jams in semi-automatic handguns.

Re: Glock jam?Glock users?

I've shot about 3,000 rounds in mine in the past 3 months and not one jam.

One major issue like BARhunter said is limp wrist.
You have to have a strong grip on it to make sure the slide can operate properly.
My Glock 27 i've let a few people shoot and the gun seems to kick a lot with them and they will get 1 or 2 jams.
Myself I've put probably 3,500 total though it and I haven't had one single jam or misfeed.
I clean mine once a week when I shoot or if I put a few hundred down range in one sitting I will clean after that.

Re: Glock jam?Glock users?

I am a certified Glock Instructor and Glock Armorer and a law enforcement officer with over 24 years of experience. I am also a certified firearms instructor and trainer. I am only telling you this to show that I speak from proven experience and very good training. Our department issues Glock Model 22, .40 caliber handguns to all of our officers. I have personally fired well over 10,000 rounds of ammunition through my issued weapon and it has never jammed. Basic fundamentals of good shooting, quality ammunition and proper cleaning and maintenance will usually eliminate any problems like you are experiencing. I have seen many shooters experience jams and most of them were due to weak grips and limp wristing. This is a common problem that can easily be corrected by applying the basic fundamentals to your grip.

Well I guess I am a limp wrist shooter lol, I am shooting a Glock 30 in .45 I was shooting FMJ not sure of the brand because I have bought several different kinds. The empty case was not getting clear. it was note standing up I assume to be a stove pipe jam, but more in there at a 45 degree angle.

Work on firming up your grip and remember, the more you shoot the better you will get. Place the web of your strong hand as high up on the back strap of the pistol grip but do not get it too far up because the slide will take off some flesh if you do and it will hurt like heck! The strong hand grips the weapon first and once the strong hand is in the proper position the weak hand closes around the strong hand. Google some examples of proper grip and you should find many examples to look at. Once the proper grip is obtained the shooter must lock the strong arm in place which will lock the shooter's wrist in place, therefore reducinig the posssibility of limp wristing the weapon. Hopefully this helps and isn't too confusing. It is much easier to demonstrate in person than it is to explain.

I am new to Big bore auto's I have always been a revolver man, I can see where a weak form can not make the gun eject well. thanks for your help. I was already considering getting a small revolver for my carry gun, But I will hold off and see how this works out now.

I've never heard of a Glock-caused FTE problem. Usually, with an autoloader, the error is with the shooter, and not the pistol. But the last time I made that assumption with someone on here, he corrected me and pointed out another issue with the gun. Chances are still likely that you may want to modify your shooting form, rather than worry about the gun.

I vote grip as well... I have over 1000 rounds through my G30 with absolutely no jams. My wife will have a jam with the same gun in almost every mag she runs through it (always blames the gun :) ). Her problem is not really a grip strength issue, but seems that she holds too low.

I have at least 1000 rounds through 2 of mine, and I've had one malfunction. I didn't seat the magazine sufficiently, and the second found failed to feed.

A few times during the first 200 rounds fired. I typically like to fire 500 before carrying it. It also doesn't like the cheap Remington hollow points (Big cavity). Any other brand of ammunition through the past nine years have given me no issues. In fact, I haven't seen that particular type of Remington ammunition since I limped my way through finishing that box of 50 rounds.

I bought a 100 pack of Remington HP at walmart a little while back for like $40.00 I jumped on them and was wishing I had bought all they had. Glad I didn't now lol
