Been a while since I have had a dog and even longer since I had a GOOD dog.

Friend of mine had one dumped at his house.
Best I can remember he said it was a Border Collie I think ?

He did say it was a herder for sure and loved to mess with the cattle next door to his house.
He said it had to be someones dog as it is very well behaved and listens to him and sits, lays down, etc.

He said he opens the truck door and says "get in" and it jumps in and lays down in the passenger seat. :D

He said it appears to be "about" a year old.
He has run two ads in the paper and on the radio and nobody has claimed it.

Bringing him home tomorrow.
I am excited.

They're awesome breeds. Just remember, once he arrives, he may be the smartest one in your household! :D They are remarkably intelligent but driven dogs, and do well with challenging training.

I couldn't find it anywhere, but in David Letterman's early days of the show, he had a pair of border collies and handlers take a small flock of sheep from his stage, out the door, into the hallways, and put them all into an elevator. It was amazing to see, but cakework for the dogs.

If they don't get enough work/challenge, they may get into mischief.

They are super smart, very loving and will herd you right over where they want you. I had one for 14 years. He was a great dog.
They will herd anything that has legs. The only downside is if you don't agree to be herded they get sort of aggressive. :D

They are also Judo Champions. They can flip a big dog on its back and have it by throat in seconds. They don't bite hard they just let it know they are not playing.

My Rough Collie flips my Golden Retriever two or three times a day. :D

Congrats maybe you can train it to heard deer and run them by you. Wait a minute I don't think that is legal.

My best friend in high school had one. She was smart as a whip & loved to chase a tennis ball. I predict you will really enjoy this dog.
