Film footage of a 150 mile Mule Deer Migration

It is amazing and just on the other side of the state is a migrating whitetail herd, pretty cool to see whitetails migrate.

Sadly, oil and mineral exploration is dramatically affecting migrations along with developments of housing and resorts.

Cool link. One thing he observed that I've noticed with whitetails when they herd up in the winter is the amount of vocalizations they make. I sometimes travel up to Ohio to bow hunt in late January, and when deer are in large herds, 12+ animals, I usually hear them "talking" way before I see them. I wonder if it has to do with the lack of pressure, if it's a herd thing, or if they're just glad to see each other?

I notice this with fall turkeys and late season whitetails. I see the whitetails when we are working on the farm, they play, frolic and make some funny vocalization like they have no worry in the world.
