We went on our annual Father/Son 'doe' hunt this past weekend. Not a lot of deer seen/killed (3) but we had a great time with good friends!
What made it interesting, all the Fathers were shooting ML (pure lead HP bullets and real 85gr Swiss black powder) and the Son's shooting CF rifles from AR to custom bolt.
Friday PM - no does. Although 1 son missed with his AR from just under 100yds - you can imagine the grief he received....
Saturday AM - no does.
Saturday PM - One of the son's shot a doe with his 7mm Mag at 80-90 yards. My oldest shot a doe at 40 yards with his .260 Rem. One of the fathers shot a doe with his Encore at 120yds. All 3 shot were broadside, well placed thru the ribs/lung/heart.
Sunday AM - no does.

Question:
Which bullet did we recover and why?

Although all 3 bullets hit rib bones on each side, the 7mm Mag was not caught. All 3 shots were close in shot placement, that's what made this so interesting. But one of these was recovered under the far side hyde.

And the least penetrating is - - -

They all did their job, but wonder why this one didn't pass thru?
It's the lightest, but has the smallest SD.
