If you have a Mac, use iMovie because it is inexpensive and I've done several movies and they all look great.

Adobe Premiere Pro here. Been using it since I was a kid and still use it now, does everything you need and more.

Final Cut Pro is what I have been using lately...its a very complex system but Im too dumb to use most of the functions. Once I learned the commands that i needed however it wasn't to bad. definitely more editing power than i need but I got the program for free so...

it's fine with me, you don't have to pay for updates anymore, it's all included. And you can go by month and shut it off if you won't be using it for a while.
