Salary demands hold up season 4 production.

Led by family patriarch Phil and his son Willie, the Robertsons have turned a business that began in a decrepit shed 25 years ago into the Duck Commander outdoorsmen empire. The company, which manufactures duck calls and other hunting paraphernalia, serves as the driving force behind the television series.

Now, the family is hoping to turn their massive ratings success into a big payday. According to sources close to the negotiation, the Robertsons are asking for a new contract that would grant them in excess of $200,000 per episode, per person, the Hollywood Reporter reports.

I've never watched it but the so-called "Reality" shows that I have tried leave me cold. If everybody was like me, they would be back to making duck calls for a living. Every reality show that I have watched is equally bad. I cannot understand for the life of me how anybody can watch these wastes of film. Why can't they make shows with a plot that has entertainment value anymore? The credits of The Andy Griffith show are far more interesting than the shows they show now.

Sorry to any Duck Dynasty fans that may read this - I had to say it or bust. :)

Hunter you may want to watch it before judging all reality shows than turn around and praise a reality show. Yes andy would be considered a reality show of the past. Of course now days it is far from reality but then so is all the other ones. But while i am not an advid watcher of duck dynasty the few shows that i did watch had a real good entertainment value.

How can you discredit a program you have never watched?? You may or may not find it entertaining. Being closed minded to reality shows means no matter how good it is, you probably wouldn't like it. Other than the whistiling part, the credits to Andy Griffith are pretty bad.

Duck Dynasty is A&E's most-watched show, and its viewership is growing. This season alone it averaged 8.2 million viewers.

I have watched an episode or two. I don't think there's all that much reality in it. When you turn the camera's on, it's showtime, not reality time. But if it's entertaining, well by all means sell it and make some cash. That's reality.

I dont see what the big deal is. If your boss came to you and asked you what terms you would want on a contract for your services would you not ask for a raise?

I agree on all the other so called Reality shows my wife and daughters watch, I will try to spend time with them but for the life of me I can not sit and watch Kim Kardashians or any of the others for more than 5 minutes.

That said,

Duck Dynasty is a show my whole family enjoys, we all laugh out loud and enjoy the good clean humor for a change.

Everytime I have tried one of these new shows that somebody says is good, I end up staring blankly at the wall beyond the TV set. They are all unwatchable to my taste. I'll take "Bonanza" "The Andy Griffith Show" "Gunsmoke" "Wagon Train" "Rawhide" "Bewitched" etc etc any day. There will never be a show on TV again that I like. America is not the same place and people aren't the same so they can't make shows like the ones above anymore. Nobody thinks like that or has those values.

I've only watched a handful of DD episodes, but I have two comments on the show:

1. I admire their open, unashamed embrace of their faith on the show.

2. They reinforce the stereotypical backwards southerner on just about every episode.

#1 is a good thing; #2 is disastrous.

Don't get me wrong they deserve whatever they can get out of A&E. If they can get 200K great for them. I think that is how BUSINESS works. They are bringing in viewers and making A&E tons of money and they should be rewarded for that. If not go somewhere else to get it. But to play Devil's Advocate for a minute. If they are happy happy happy about their situation and don't care much about material things like they say in the show, why are they demanding more money? Look at how much money they made themselves by doing the show outside of what they are getting paid to do the actual show. Duck Commander and Buck Commander brand sales have skyrocketed due to their exposure. The whole family reaps the rewards from all the sales. The way I look at it they are being paid to advertise their brand on TV for a full hour a week. They also charge thousands of dollars to speak at events. They are making their money one way or another. The bottom line is they are not the dumb good ole boys they appear to be on TV. They are hard core business men. They just wear camo instead of suits.
