Anyone every try it? I read up on it this weekend and the most notable feedback was to never leave fertilizer in the hopper overnight and always wash down the unit really, really well inside and out to prevent any chance of corrosion.

I don't know, I would say that putting that in your drill wouldn't be for the faint of heart. It will never go in our drill. But if you did do it, I would add a couple more "really's" to your cleaning sentence in your original post.

For sure...I'm not there which is why I asked here to see if anyone had any direct experience. At this point the risks far outweigh the reward and I can't find much literature on it at all.

I'm not sure you can ever clean one good enough after using fertilizer and not have rust…. at least I haven't been successful.
