Ok I am shooting 425gr arrow at 251fps I love my mechanical broadheads so what would you think my farthest shot should be with mechanical broadheads for them to work like they should?

Re: Draw weight with mechanical broadheads

As long as you can hit vitals (lungs, heart, etc), and get a pass through, you will be good. If I were shooting that setup, I would be concerned with vertical drop at farther distances, and I'd be aware that just about any shoulder shot beyond 20 yards is very likely to result in poor penetration, little to no blood trail, a difficult tracking job, and the likelihood of an unrecoverable animal. I am speaking from 15 years of experience shooting mechanicals (435 grains, 275 fps) and the handful of shoulder shots that I made, unintentionally.

Your arrow is plenty heavy to deploy a mechanical broadhead the way it was designed even though your on the "slower" side of the speed range for today's bows
