Does THP still do this? If so, your take?

Does THP use semi trucks to hunt down traffic violations ? 2013 articles says they have:

if they do, when and how to spot them?
I recall stories about this, they mainly targeted cell phone use (no tickets at first) and seatbelt use. I don't think this was a sustained program though, it was just when the new hands-free law went into effect.

As of a year or two ago yes they did. Semi’s, buses, unmarked cars all kinds of things. You will not spot them until they pull you over, that is the point.

They done it last summer in Knoxville. DOC bus was used to write up the usual moving violations. They would just make the rounds and when they witnessed the violation they call in your tag and description to a cruiser who snags you. Got to meet that quota !

On the other hand some would say they are making the roads safer for drivers.

At what point is it enforcing the rules vs meeting quotas? Their job is to keep the roadways safer, right?

Idk, I usually feel pretty safe, lol. Their stats show an increase of injuries and deaths on TN roadways.

I wasn't trying to attack your point of view, just wondering what you'd expect LEO to do when they see the rules being broken.
If things continue like 2023 has started I think we will break a new record for dangerous highways.

My POV or perspective is based from what I see on the road daily, many times on the east tn roads.

I expect LE to do their job, naturally.

As it pertains to this thread however, the rolling rig or bus they use a couple times a year for a PR campaign is a bandaid on a bullet wound. So they reach a number and call it a day, and we are falsely led to believe a difference has been made.

I figured it'd be some of the politicians we have.
Probably those too. I'm on the other end of the state but we have the same or similar A-holes up here.

Here's one...Glory Hole Johnson
