Diesel fuel

About 15 years ago my step dad done some work and ended up with several 55 gallon drums of off-road diesel fuel. There’s around 140 gallons left, 2 drums are full and one is a partial. These were stored in the dry but not climate controlled. One is in a plastic drum and the other in a metal drum. I don’t remember which, but I popped the lid on both and one smelled just like the diesel but the other didn’t really have a smell. I don’t think running this stuff in a tractor is ideal, but I do have uses for it. But my question is how potent is this stuff still? Am I being too cautious not wanting to run it in a tractor. I don’t even have a diesel tractor but I know several that do.

I would not use it in a diesel engine being that old. Probably has algae growing in it.

When I popped the lid I didn’t see any algae, but that is a concern as well

Not sure what I would do with it. Add some diesel algaecide...maybe?? Maybe cut it with fresh diesel. Use to burn brush??

No way I would risk putting it in an engine, after 15 years who know what's going on with it.

I plan on burning up privet with it if you wanna know the truth.

You could use it as round up

I’d mix it with some good diesel 75/25 or maybe 50/50 and try it. I bet it would run just fine

It should work for that. Are you going to mix an herbicide into it?

Burning stumps and brush are about all I would trust it for.

The diesel fuel would probably kick in before the herbicide takes effect.
aka possible waste of herbicide

Just pump it through a filter separator, it will probably be just fine if you cut it with fresh fuel, 50/50 should be just fine.

I’ve got enough I can try to just spray it first without herbicide

I’d try and burn it one of our old diesel tractors. I burn waste motor oil, transmission fluid through the a few of them after filtering it a few times. I’d cut it 50/50 if I had concerns.

No way. Burn brush piles or kill grass and wasps

I wouldn’t put it in my truck or tractor but mix it with some motor oil and put it on my trailer floors. Also use it for spraying fences.

You could probably burn it in a kerosene/diesel shop heater. Remedy mixed with diesel works on basal bark treatment for killing trees and also on the cut stumps.
