how do i figure how far a 23ton load of gravel will go.

That will get you about 1800 square feet.
Example: If your driveway was 10' wide and 180' long you would need approx 23 tons for 3" depth.

Im near middle tennessee and I can call my local quarry and have to pay about 475.00/23 tons a full tri axle dump. If I call the quarry in maury county even though they have to ship from further I have never seen a ticket over 285.00 for the same amount. I will say that i bought about 150 loads last yr so I may be getting a volume discount.

Crusher Run goes for around $15 per ton delivered, depending on the location of the nearest quarry. Average (full) truck load is 20 tons. Call/Look up Rogers Group, Vulcan Materials or Martin Marietta.
Finding tonnage is Length x Width x Depth (in feet) divided by 27 x 1.86. (should get you close)
