Coyotes see toddlers and under as prey. I was living in Glendale, CA when a coyote grabbed a baby and dragged it away, Dad ran coyote off, but kid died. this from the web "Following Keen�s death, the Glendale Commissioner�s personnel developed the first serious urban coyote management program, including 80 days of leghold trapping and shooting within a 0.5-mile (0.8-km) radius of the attack site, during which county personnel trapped and shot 55 coyotes.[1]

When you see a coyote, kill it. Simple.
