Coming up on a major birthday next month, and I've never had a tattoo, but a landmark birthday may deserve a bold move. Don't know the most recommended artists in the Nashville area, so any input on that is valued.

As for the tatt itself, I'm thinking one of three directions: 1)an ichthus (Christian fish) with the Greek letters inside which represent the words "Jesus Christ, God's Son, Savior", most commonly associated with the symbol, 2)the Greek word "doulos", which is the term Paul used to describe himself as a "bondservant". This is when a slave in Hebrew culture was released, but chose to stay with a family willingly. His ear would be pierced, and he would from then on wear a ring that denoted he was no longer for sale. This is why I have an ear pierced myself, or 3)a bit of artwork I created myself that puts the word "DISCIPLE" into the shape of the ichthus, as follows:

I like it.

I assume you will already, but choose a spot that it can be easily covered up.
Lots of prejudice against tattoos, don't matter what they say or are a picture of.

Keep up the good work
LOL, thanks. My current decor has been working for me for nearly 50 years, but during this second shift, I'm much more likely to not care as much ;)

And I hear ya, Ruger. The ear piercing was a big enough deal. I've only ever had one person walk out on me because of it, but I've had many more than that remark that they felt more comfortable relating to a "preacher" who looked like them.

Whatever the case, I'm interested in wearing the brand of the One I belong to.

Sad but true. Something about fish heads comes to mind.

Hey, Nimrod's turning 40! :D

Cool tat idea. I like it, it's not a generic tattoo, and it's symbolic for you. Plus, it's a cool design. Like Ruger said, just gotta be careful where you get it, and make sure it can be covered.

Dude, you crack me up!! You are truly one of a kind! I don't know you but I wish I did. I don't have any tattoos but I almost got got the sacred heart of Jesus, but my wife woke up from her drunken stooper(collegel) and stopped me. If I ever got a tat it would be something meaningful and of that sort. GET R DONE!! Love your idea!

The sacred heart.
