What are some recommended clothing items I should get from Bass Pro. I hear many people on here say wear more layers and bulky clothing, is this true?

I'm making a run to Bass Pro Shop tomorrow and want to know some decent priced jackets, pants, gloves, head gear, etc.

What are some warm clothing pieces I should look into tomorrow?

CD,

There are your 4 basic layers, #1 - base layer, to wick away moisture from the body. #2 - insulation layer, for warmth #3 - wind barrier, eliminates heat lose. & #4 - Outer shell, protects from the elements(rain, snow, etc)

I prefer silk or polypro as a base layer, the isulation layer is a crap shoot, pends on the hunter himself.(I like a light to medium underwear and polartec pullover) I prefer a seperate wind shear layer because you can use it even if you take the pullover off.
Outer shell, pending on the element. All rain, I am wearing rain gear, snow - waterproof parka or wool.

Yup what he said.

1. Nike/UA cold weather gear

2. Polyprolene

3. 10X jacket with liner.

4. Lower body the same but with insulated fleece pants.

Never get cold.

Thanks!

Alright, so I've been looking into getting the basic stuff for my son, not wanting to spend a lot of money as this is the first time he's going out there, but I do want him to stay warm. Of course, other layers of clothing will be added on as we already have some. =]

Cabela's Silent Weave Insulated Jacket.
