I know nobody likes a cheap scope but, I need the least exspensive glass I can get by with to top a H&R ultra varmint .243.
Anybody had any good experiences with some inexpensive glass?

Might add that I hope to upgrade in a year or so.

I have a NEF Handi 243 that I have a Swift Premier on and I love it. Just bought another one to put on my new H&R Ultra 25-06. Never had any problems and they are very bright, clear and easy to zero.

Yeah I would also recommend the Bushnell Trophy as a good 'cheap' scope. I have used and am using several with no problems. I do think the older ones were better but that is about like everything else!! Plateau Hunter

I've had great experience with both Bushnells and Tascos and not so good with Simmons. I'm talking bottom of the line stuff. However, optics are bright and most have lasted for years.

Cheap, as in under $125. Like I said I would like to upgrade later but, if a cheap scope seems to work well with no trouble I would wait longer before upgrading.

Right now you can get one of the Simmons 6.5-20x50 scopes from Midway for an even hundred. They're a decent scope considering the price. They have them made up in a lot about once a year and are able to offer them at a significant discount. If you'll check out the consumer ratings of the scope on their website you'll see that almost all who bought them were highly pleased and gave the scope their maximum 5 star rating considering it's price. They're a good knockabout scope and will probably serve you well from now on with the H&R Ultra.
