Anyone have one of these bulbs explode? We had one from a ceiling fan pop and shards of glass went everywhere! Here is a pick showing the end. My 18 month old Grandson was under it 10 minutes before!

Two of them have broken like that, both were inside the same closet light fixture. I replaced the entire light after the second one.

In order to find all the pieces, just take your socks off and walk around. I know this works.

Be glad it wasn't a Pyrex bowl dropped on a tile floor. The explosion deafened me and I had glass sticking out of my jeans, which were dirty anyway.

dang they suck

I would like LED technology to advance and become more affordable. I like LEDs. And traditional fluorescent tubes... my man cave is lit mainly by 4 foot shop lights. Incandescent in the lamp and spotlight. And the can lights that I never use...

Yeah those things are full of mercury. I replaced all the florescent tubes on the farm I manage with LEDs. You just have to bypass the ballast and direct wire them. They pay for themselves in energy cost if you can afford the upfront cost.

I read that the newer ones don't have that much mercury in them so cleanup isn't as critical.
