I have two large cedar trees in my back yard. Ones foliage is deep green and the others foliage is brown and is dropping pollen like mad. Does that mean the tree is diseased or it's just a doing it's thing? I have lived here for 20ys and have never seen the amount of pollen coming off of this tree (looks like it is on fire with smoke) or it's foliage brown like this...

if a cedar has brown foliage, it is very unhealthy. Google cedar rust and see if that resembles your tree's symptoms.

Tree is probably just fine. It is that time of year for the staminate cones to burst wide open. They turn brown when they are mature. If you are brave, go shake the tree! LOL

Google exploding cedar and see what happens!

O'Charlies has cedar planked salmon on the menu and I think Longhorn had shrimp cooked on a cedar plank at one time. Some places sell kiln dried cedar planks to grill on, it's a wonderful flavor.
