Thanks, I would have spooked those birds if I hadn't heard him drum. The mic is an Azden interchangeable stereo/mono shotgun mic. I also EQ'ed the sound in Premiere to boost the bass so the drumming was easier to hear. Of course you can't hear it on a phone, but any stereo with a sub or good headphones you can hear it.
I gave him 2 or 3 yelps one time hoping he'd ease down the logging road toward me. He ended up cutting into the ditch to stay with his hens which were feeding on the other side of the ditch. One of the hens was in plain sight to my left, I thought she was gonna bust me
