Bummer on my Boyds stock

We get an annual performance bonus and I usually try and reward myself with part of it.

Decided to replace the stock on my Remington 700ML with a replacement from Boyd's. QC guy must not have been working the day they made it. Forward sling stud was in the ramrod channel, ramrod could not be inserted. Trigger guard was milled at different depth from front to rear, one of the screws hit the bolt making it impossible to use.

Customer service was great, they gave me a full refund with no problem, but I am hesitant to try it again.
Anybody here have a 700ML with a Boyd's that worked?

Seems like they've got a QA/QC problem internally. If their customer service is good, I wouldn't hesitate giving them another shot. They "generally" make good stuff.

I've used many Boyd's stocks over the years all have been good and usable. Many did require some fitting though. But that sling swivel anchor nut in the ramrod channel? Sheesh!

Yep. I didn't notice it until I had put the action on it.

I have one on my 700ML that is the thumb hole and it is fine. I did buy it that way though.

I like the pass through cut for the sling. Never seen that before.

Those are vents. Not really made for a sling. But if it works, why not. As long as it doesn't put pressure on a free floated barrel.

That is the original picture...I put a sling stud on it.

I love the look of those salt/pepper laminate stocks. Do Boyd's add much weight to a gun?

It was definitely heavier than the synthetic stock on the Remington, but that's one reason I wanted it to improve the balance on that rifle. It's off front heavy with the original stock.
