I have a 12 gauge Browning BPS Hunter, 28" barrel with a 3" receiver. It's worked great for small game, waterfowl, even got my first turkey with it. It has a smooth bore barrel and I know that a rifled barrel would be much better for slug shooting but it's also a costly upgrade. I'd like to know if anyone has experience shooting rifled slugs out of this gun or a similar gun and how do you feel about the possible accuracy for deer at 50 yards or less. Thanks!

There are regular slugs that will do a super job. Federal, Remington, Winchester, dozens more make great rounds for smoothbore shotguns.

Just be careful and only buy the ones that state they are for smoothbore shotguns. And buy just one package until you find the one right for your gun.

Rifled slugs are for smooth bores. If the slug has a sabot then you at least need a rifled choke tube to Keppler them from possibly tumbling.
