Used to be only 2 or 3 good scope brands available . Now I'm overwhelmed with the different scope brands and functionality. I'm wanting to upgrade scopes on this machine. It has a $100 solar scope and factory trigger. With this combination I can cover 3 shots with a quarter at 100 yards. I just upgraded the trigger and going to upgrade the scope, but don't know where to start. Maybe $500.00 budget. I'd like to do some long range shooting. (400yards). Any recommendations?

If nikon had not dropped production of scopes, that would be my personal choice. Put a monarch 2.5-10x42 on my dpms lr308, and have several other monarch and other nikon scopes that I have been happy with.
But since nikon no longer is making scopes would not be afraid to go with Burris or vortex.

Look at Sightron. They get overlooked but are top shelf and reasonable.
