Is there anything i can do about this? saw a large crane type bird take a bass out of my pond last week. see them there several times a week down there. Pond is stocked for my kids, nieces, nephews to enjoy etc.

You would have to get a depredation permit from the US Fish and Wildlife Service to kill the herons.

The only birds exempted from that permit are crows, house sparrow, rock pigeons, and European starlings.

Them son of a guns are on my pond daily.. one flew off one day that had a bass in its mouth and I swear it was about 12 inches long... he couldnt hold on to it and dropped it in the upper end where the mud is about a foot deep.. where it died..

I understand they are ferry territorial, once that take up resident they are hard to get them to move on.
