Iam a big fan of pronghorn, elk and moose well before any deer. Tough to beat a grass fed thick Ribeye however. I will say the easiest thing to give away is elk meat. Hands down. People will straight up stalk you for that. They come over and it is " hey uh I know you just got back from out west, got any of the good stuff." Iam convinced this is why the elk herd has not done better than it has here in TN, but you don't hear about it.

i love a ribeye, or bacon, or a bacon-wrapped ribeye, but i'm going to confess to eating a fawn one bow season. found it still alive not 50 yds from road/rr tracks on mgmt area. not gonna let it suffer, so i ruin a good broadhead on the gravel its on. not gonna waste meat either, so i gut it out & put a bag of ice in body cavity till i get home. poor little thing still had spots on its butt, and was the tenderest meat i have ever eaten. haven't shot one deliberately though...
