In a river hopefully!
Love my Kimber Ultra Carry II TLE. FLAWLESS in over 500-600 rounds. I added a laser to it.

S&W SW1911SC Scandium framed .45. Not exactly cheap at ~ $1200 or so.

I love the bobtail. If the Ruger 1911 had had one, I would have bought that one.

Remington R1 Stainless is very reasonable and shoots great. My son bought a Kimber and I think he likes my Remington better.

My opinion is worth as much as anyone's, maybe less, but I've always considered 1911s to be "church guns" i like them. Some shoot exceptionally well. Most feel really good, but in my opinion if youre not going to spend 800+ on a 1911 then you're better off with a good modern striker fired handgun that holds more, weighs less, is about as accurate or just as accurate, and provides a rail for a light. I like CZs because to me they provide the design benefits i like in the shape of the 1911 with a higher capacity and a smooth double action trigger all for less than 800. And thats an all steel gun. Very reliable. For anything else you can't beat glocks.

I've carried a Colt MK IV Series 80 since the early 80's with 2 reloads, goes on with my pants and is within arms reach all the time. Don't know it's there, but know it is, if that makes sense.

Everyone is different. Go to a range that rents guns. Try as many as you can. Find the one's that fits your hand properly and comfortable shooting. Then it's just a matter of your disposable income. Good luck.

I am a Springfield fan but I have a Llama 1911 .45 given to me that I love shot over 1000 rounds and no jams or issues. My everyday carry is my 1911 style Springfield 380 got it for 400 from knife works
